Does Daffy Duck deserve top billing over Bugs Bunny? Daffy first appeared in Tex Avery's Porky's Duck Hunt in 1937, which is three years before Bugs Bunny made his debut (Avery's A Wild Hare in 1940). Also true is the remarkable range that Daffy demonstrates in his acting. Almost every director at Warner Bros. Worked with the little black duck, from Clampett through Freleng, McKimson, McCabe, and even Frank Talshlin.

Daffy's lisp is allegedly based on that of Leon Schlesinger, who, the story goes didn't recognize the source and actually loved the way he "thspoke". However, the duck that we've come to love and "deth-pize" found his most admiring director in Chuck Jones.
